Lapid Modernist Pottery - Israel - Post 3

Here is Part 3 in my series of Lapid Modernist Pottery from Mid-Century Israel. Some of these shapes are obviously more modernist and organic in their form. The beautifully shaped bowls in the first shots are quite large in scale too, and really impressive on display. All of these pieces are from the late 1960's-1980's.

You will notice in the decoration of many pieces wax-resist was often used to reveal either the clay or glaze underneath - and it is one of my favourite glazing techniques. (see glossary if you are unsure of what it is)
