Hornsea Slipware

I purchased 1 lot only from today's auction which was a small group including this lovely Hornsea Slipware Vase.

It has the backstamp from 1956-1962 - and I love the "tribal" vibe about it, which was very popular at the time everywhere in all aspects of design.

The top of it reminds me of a baby bird's beak open and waiting to be fed!

  1. Very nice and quite rare. Originally made as an oil bottle or vinegar jug, It's from the Hornsea studio slipware range and it dates from 1959. A good find.

    1. Thanks for the info. I loved the decoration on it - rarely see Hornsea slipware here of any type, so it was a lucky find.
