Denby Spring c 1954 - Glyn Colledge

I thought I had this design already on the blog, but apparently not. I was doing some listing on eBay today and wanted to check the date of this series by Glyn Colledge called "Spring" which is from around 1954 - just pre-dating Greenwheat.

This is such a lovely design with its matt bright white background, grey gloss lids and a really delicate but stylish - it has an almost a Japanese feel about the design with that delicate calligraphy like brushwork.

One of my favourite early designs from Denby.

  1. It's so simple and stylish. It's interesting how it works on the different forms - busier on the salt and pepper pots and spare on the platter.

    1. You have a very sharp Design eye there Jeneane, I hadnt thought about that before, but you are right - the motif doesnt seem to change size whatever piece it is on - maybe someting to do with having to repeat it over and over with accuracy.
