Mystery Soholm Pieces

These images were sent to me by Martin in the U.K. - Martin's mother had a shop in the 1960's and 1970's in Brighton, and these were unsold Soholm stock which were kept. There is a stamp, but it is very light and difficult to see.

Martin hoped I might be able to identify them, but I havent seen any of these designs anwyhere before, and havent been able to find anything similar as yet - I'm hoping someome may have the Soholm book and these designs may be identified in the book, or that someone may know their designer .....or something about them :). They are quite different from what I would normally associate with Soholm.

I have tagged these in the blog along with other mystery items, but notice a few of the mystery pieces are now identified so I need to remove the tag from some of them.

On a related topic - is there anyone else who uses blogger having a problem with uploading photos??. I find that I now have to go to Picassa web albums and upload them to an album there, then go back to this blog and upload to the blog - a bit annoying to have to do things twice every time!

  1. Thanks for the birthday wishes Ray :-) I'm realising how much an older generation than me can fill in the gaps for Mid-Century domestica and art. They lived with it in their impressionable youth! I was just talking to a woman today who had bought a particular dinner service for her mother around 1957.

I noticed that some photos were missing from your last post but they show today. Not having trouble with photos yet except for my header photo, which I do like to change occasionally. Blogger tells me that my Picasa web album is full. I don't understand why as I can still upload photos to my posts. The album is accumulating any new photos that I post, just not the header ones???

Good luck with the mystery Soholm.

    1. Jannie thank you so much! you have made my day!! - a whole shop of SOHOLM!,with so many designs I have never seen and all with names to boot.... yes the Rigmor Nielsen piece in the Soholm shop is a very similar type of pattern...so that is one solved. Im sure the others will be in the shop somewhere as well.....
..... I can see I going to have to learn Danish or at least learn how to use Google in Danish! Even when I search in "any language" things like this link never show up for me.

  3. Is there any way of finding out if they were test pieces? Mysteries like this are one of the things that making collecting vintage pottery and china so much fun.

If blogger starts doing that with me it will be the "last straw", and I shall be switching companies.

    Good Luck with both!
