My goodness, Auction watch 33 - the year is speeding past at a scary rate. Spring has literally sprung here - the last day of winter was grey and cold, then like clockwork on the 1st September the sun came out, blossom appeared and trees started getting their first leaves -
rarely does it happen like this though!
Spring here is usually a mix of all seasons and the blossoms either get burned off with heat, or blown off in a storm. It was great to feel the sunshine today - it has been such a grey winter here.
I had a good day last week with some interesting Danish finds in local Antique stores, which was fortunate- and as it turns out this is a very quiet week at the auctions, so I'm not planning any purchases....although as always that can change! This first setting is quite amazing:
 |
| Rosenthal Coffee Setting |
 |
| Poole Bowl - there seems to be a huge amount of this around at the moment |
 |
| An interesting Art Deco Shelley Vase |
 |
| I like the shape on this amber glass flower bowl |
 |
This large jug is such a beautiful looking piece, and so English
19th century Sunderland Lustre ware large Iron Bridge Jug c1825
($600-$1,000) |
 |
| Nils Thorsson Copenhagen Lamp |
 |
Not my style but FYI - After the immensely popular Royal Albert "Country Roses"
(which I really detest - it is such over the top Kitsch)
This one, Royal Albert "Serena" is probably the second most popular.

The Lamp, Ray! The Lamp! ...it's lovely just saying :)
ReplyDeleteYes a nice one Pippa, I have a few of this shape in other colours...only thing is they all need rewiring...and I'm saving up for some totally amaaaaazing lamps coming up for auction in a few weeks... watch this space:)
DeleteAfter April, here,[Pennsylvania] I start with, "C'mon, October.". The other months are just foil for the gems. Maybe October is early this year....?
ReplyDeleteI notice how certain types of ware come in waves through my local charity shop and the recycling centre as elderly people move out of their big homes. Their ages and tastes show in poignant flushes of household items throughout the shop. Amongst your treats: the show-off in me likes the Rosenthal Coffee Set while the sentimentalist likes the Iron Bridge jug. I have a similar souvenir jug depicting the Manchester Ship Canal, which used to hang with all our lace plates in our narrowboat cabin.
ReplyDeleteYes interesting isnt it. I love that Iron Bridge jug - so typical of its era.
