IIttala Ballo

A slight diversion from Pottery just for a change. I found this beautiful little solid glass candle holder the other day in a second hand store. It is made by iittala Finland and is from the Ballo range of votive candle holders designed by Annaleena Hakatie.

It is one of the most magical colours I have seen an a long time - from some angles it appears quite a dark turquoise and from others reminds me of the colours of tropical seas. It is also so superbly crystal clear and I think the 4 tiny feet really set the design apart from others. This series was released in 1995 - not sure how long it ran though.
