Auction Watch 40

Danish is back on the menu! A few pieces coming up this week, but apparently many more to come over the coming few weeks. The first 2 pieces listed I have had before - and they are always very popular designs  - also I think the shape is one of the best in this fajance range (3121) . The blue design is by Berte Jessen, and the other Ellen Malmer.

My favourites this week though are the Czech pieces because of their very eccentric shapes and fantastic textures. I think they are imports from the 1950's - but I haven't ever been able to find out anything about them.

Royal Copenhagen Large Bottle/Vases

Great set of harlequin ramekins.

Above and below:
A great group consisting of West German and Czech Vases - I love the patterns on
these Czech pieces - I don't come across them very often - and the West German piece
numbered 211 below is such a great shape and colour.

Great shaped on these Bakelite topped salt and pepper shakers

Quite a number of lots of Royal Copenhagen annual mugs - which seem to maintain
their popularity more than annual plates and plaques - I guess they are more utilitarian.

3 great Alumina/Copenhagen pieces

A design I have always wanted to get, but never seen in person
before - not in brilliant condition ....but depends on the price as
always.

A very groovy pair of Japanese plastic wall plaques

Quite a nice West German Vase

  1. What with your interest and following other Etsy shopkeepers, I'm beginning to recognise the Danish aesthetic when I see it. And realise that it was a great influence on the potters who were part of my local childhood culture (and I thought I grew up in a conservative farming community). You must feel like a kid in a sweet shop at the moment.

    1. Since I have been collecting I have found that some of the knowledge rubs off on friends too - and they get to know the "Danish Aesthetic", and characteristics of other makers. I used to want to own everything good I found, but thats impossible, now Im happy if I just get a photograph of special pieces :)
