Hello 2013!

Well the world didn't end when the Mayan Calendar cycle ended, although some days since Christmas, with the extreme heat and bushfires here in Australia - it feels like the Apocalypse some days....fortunately the heat (and fires) have calmed down for now.

Welcome to all the new readers who have found this site over the past month or so, and also the readers who have contacted me via email over the past month or so with some wonderful stories of their experiences/memories of different items they have found amongst my posts. Its great also to hear from people who have been inspired to collect and find out more about the amazing world of antique, vintage and retro pottery.

I heard from a reader in the U.S. who let me know the name of this series of Johnson Brothers platters I put up on the site way back in December 2011 - part of the "Snowhite" range .....apparently this series of designs is called "Inspirations"

Another reader, Ruthi in Israel contacted me about some Lapid Pottery she had, and she was able to find and translate from Hebrew a bit more about the history of the pottery which I will put into a new post here very soon.

Ruthi also let me know about the existence of a recently started Facebook page for Lapid Pottery which I joined. If you are into Lapid it would be well worth adding to your Facebook page "likes" (in Hebrew - but translates fine - if you see the word "torch"in a Hebrew/English translation, just read it as "Lapid").

Next post: A Rorstrand find,  and by popular demand the Auction Watch will start again at the end of this week.
