Arabia Valencia

This piece is one of my very unexpected finds in a second hand store yesterday. Sitting all by itself was this shining beacon of a plate. Of course it is the Valencia design from Arabia Finland by Ulla Procope c 1960s.

A blindingly beautiful glaze of an intense and saturated cobalt blue glaze on white. This design is probably one of the most coveted (and most expensive to buy now) designs from this period from Arabia Finland.

There are few who could afford to buy a setting of this design these days, but there are a lot of people who have inherited, or hung onto this setting which was often given as a wedding present in its time. Just imagine having a whole set of it!

  1. What a great find! I bet you were ecstatic when you spotted it. It never ceases to amaze me when we run into rare and valuable pieces in thrift stores.
