Auction Watch 52

Not quite as great a selection of Danish items as there was last week, but there is always something worth a second look!

Just LOVE the design of these Art Deco Cups & Saucers, pity there are only 2 of them.

I'm not sure of the maker here, but I like the yellow colour combined with the graphics

Love this bright and cheerful Arabia Finland design -
I always try to get it when I can.  I never knew there were mugs in
this range though - even though some are damaged might be worth getting!

Again, not sure of the maker but nice graphical elements on this design

The Copenhagen salt box in the middle of this image has a fantastic design I haven't seen before,
the object on the left is a paper towel dispenser- not sure of the brand though. The dish
on the right is a very popular one from RC.

These are Royal Copenhagen designs by Ivan Weiss c 1980s
I have the plate at the back..... The vases are more interesting though I think. Weiss
studied in Japan for some time and the Japanese influence shows here.

Such a lovely design on this Edwardian era water jug

....and a very groovy looking 1950s water jug

An Indonesian batik stamp - I always find the tools of craft fascinating

Always highly sought after - Ridgway Homemaker
plates!

And finally a large group of Mikasa lead crystal vases. A lot of people turn their noses up
at Mikasa and it always seems hard to sell,
- but I think Mikasa have produced some amazingly good designs -
just look at that fantastic piece on the far right for example.

  2. Always exciting to see what you end up with. The paper towel dispenser is from Knabstrup. Designed by Dietlinde Hein. From the series Pernille (1962-1982). Take a look at the right corner of the illustration. If it has a signature (DH) it´s from the early 60s. If not it is a more simple one from after 1965. Enjoy you´re bidding.../Birgitte

    1. Thanks Birgitte, always full of great information:) I missed when these were auctioned...and they sold for only $25 (for all 3). Kicking myself!

    2. I can understand that. That´s cheap! You can´t even get it at that price in a Danish thrift store! - Sorry, I don´t hope that I ad to more kicking ;-).../Birgitte

    3. No worries, I found plenty of other good pieces at reasonable prices....including a Soholm plaque hiding behind another item. Although I must say I havent seen Danish pottery go that cheaply for a long long time. :)

  3. Hi Ray, I have visited your blog in the past on a regular basis, and was recently reminded of it again when you linked to a Rorstrand Canaria dish i had listed on Etsy. Thanks for that btw, but i wanted to inform you about the cups and saucers you showed above, the brown ones with the clocks decor. They were introduced by the Dutch firm of Nutroma who produced coffee creamer. In Holland you can save up little coupons that are on the packages and get all kinds of things for free. These were introduced in the 1970's and were actually produced in West Germany by Mitterteich. There were 22 different pieces in total. See link. Kind regards, Pauline
