Another of my second hand store finds from this week. This stood out straight away to me as I could see it was Soholm, although I didn't recognise the decor for a while.
It turns out to be from the "Cactus" ( series 3115) which I haven't seen in real life until now. This series was a joint effort from Noomi Backhausen and Paul Brandenborg - it is such a lovely form that I think reaches out to you and makes you want to hold it.
I have found in these series of designs, there were usually 5 or 6 sizes in each shape. This is number 3 - and already quite a heavy, sizable piece. I've had the largest form in the "Erica" series before and it was massive - weighing over 8kg and a true "Gulvvase" (Floor Vase).
The blues, greens and white on the stoneware all work together so well on this design.

Such beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteYes, sublime aren't they. I dont think they would work on the smaller pieces - needs the size for impact, as it is such a bold pattern.
DeleteThe pattern! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, a talented lady was Noomi.
DeleteI love this! I have one! Seriously, it's my favourite vase. Tell me if you'll put it on one of your sites!!
